X users claimed an aide to president Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga has deleted al his X posts about Peter Obi.

Verdict

This claim is FALSE.
Findings indicated that Mr Onanuga’s posts about Peter Obi on July 23, May 03, July 28 and February 11, 2023 are not yet deleted.

On July 23, Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, issued a 72-hour ultimatum to Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on information and strategy, to retract his alleged defamatory statement against him.

Onanuga had alleged that supporters of Obi are behind the proposed nationwide protest against economic hardship in the country.

“Obi should be held responsible for anarchy. Don’t be fooled: the malcontents planning to stage nationwide protests are supporters of Peter Obi, the failed presidential candidate of the Labour Party. And he should be held responsible for whatever crisis emanates from the action,” Onanuga had written on X.

Since 2023 general election, Mr Onanuga have made many posts on X where he criticized the former Anambra.

On Friday, an X user named Tosin Olugbenga claimed that Mr Bayo Onanuga has pulled down all his posts about Peter Obi on X.

The user attached a screenshot of X search and claimed that Onanuga’s posts about Peter Obi have ALL been deleted.

Tosin Olugbenga wrote, “Bayo Onanuga has finally folded.

“Deleted all tweets that mentioned Peter Obi.

The post by Olugbenga generated over 209k views on Saturday as over 1 2k X users have reposted the the claim.

Another user made the same claim.

Verification

To verify this, FactWatch searched thoroughly, the official X account of Mr Bayo Onanuga and discovered that his many post about Peter Obi are still there undeleted.

Onanuga’s post on July 28 —Now that Peter Obi has come out to endorse the planned protest by his supporters, he should do what President Tinubu and former President Buhari did in the past, by coming out openly to lead the protesters.
