For whatever reason this may be, Facebook announced the death of Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, a few days ago.

The Facebook user Tasty Recipe posted images of the burning car and Elon Musk in critical condition and wrote, Breaking News: Elon Musk, Goodbye Musк, World is very sad!!!!!!!!!

The Facebook user attached a link to the post.

The Facebook post generated over 18k reactions and hundreds of comments.

Verification

First, FACTWATCH Nigeria clicked on the link attached to the claim and discovered that a different article had been published there

When the link opened, this Fact Checker saw a caption of an article, “Top 10 Help Desk Software Solutions for 2025”.

This showed that the Facebook user intentionally shared a FALSE claim about Elon Musk’s death for people to click on the link and read his article.

A closer look at the combined pictures, on the left downside, there’s pizap.com, a tool for photoshopping images.

Also, a tool for detecting AI-generated photos, Sight Engine results indicated that the photos of Musk in a critical condition and a burning car were AI-Generated

This claim is FALSE.

The Facebook user, Tasty Recipes deliberately made this FALSE claim about Elon Musk’s death for people to click on the link attached to it and read his article.
