Verdict

The image is MISLEADING. Checks on an AI-detecting tool indicated that the image was AI-generated. Also, a closer look at the name written on top of the building wall, showed that the “SCHOLL” was wrongly spelled.

Determined to gain followers and post likes at all costs, a Facebook page, Nigeria Love News, shared an image showing a well-constructed building with an inscription on its top, “WIZKID FC SCHOOLL”.

The Facebook page claimed that it was a new school owned by a music star, Wizkid.

According to the post on Facebook, the “Wizkid FC school” is an initiative by Wizkid with the benefits of free education, quality infrastructure, empowerment, etc.

The post garnered over 48k likes and hundreds of comments on Facebook.

Many people on TikTok, Instagram, and the X platform also shared the photo.

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (born 16 July 1990), popularly known as Wizkid, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter.

Verification

First, a closer look at this image by FACTWATCH Nigeria showed that the name written on top of the building wall showed that “SCHOLL” was wrongly spelled; it should be SCHOOL.

When this Fact Checker subjected the photo to an AI-detecting tool, using Hive Moderation, it was discovered that the image was 99% AI-generated.

The news about Wizkid owning a school was not reported by any reputable entertainment pages or websites in Nigeria.

The picture was not also shared by the music star on his verified social media accounts at any point in time.
