Agozi Samuel, a notorious cyber fraudster who has been using, Agozi Commedy (archived link), his Facebook page since 2023 to disinform and defame Nigerians, can no longer post on his Facebook page, three months after FactWatch’s investigation.

On May 3rd, FACTWATCH Nigeria, a verification platform detailed and published how Agozi deliberately employs the strategies of disinformation, defamation, and fake giveaways to attract more followers and generate more post engagements.

Agozi Commedy is not a known name in mainstream comedy in Nigeria, however, the page is associated with a Facebook user, Agozi Samuel. According to profile information, the page created on July 31, 2023, had over 600k followers already.

Activities on his Page are replete with:

  • •Spreading of misinformation/disinformation
  • •Posting of fake transfer receipts for false giveaways
  • •Defrauding people by asking for “urgent help”
  • False visits to prisons/orphanages
  • •Defaming Celebrities, notable personalities

No More Posts For Now

FACTWATCH Nigeria visited the Agozi Commedy Facebook page and discovered that the last time he made a post was July 22nd (13 days ago).

Since the Facebook page was created in July 2023, we have observed that Agozi Commedy hasn’t gone a day without publishing at least five videos or posts daily.

This is an indicator that Facebook might have suspended Agozi Commedy over his duplicitous activities.

Citing the investigation in May, FACTWATCH Nigeria has been petitioning the Facebook help center to take prompt action for these cybercrime activities on the Agozi Commedy page.

However, at the moment, his Facebook page hasn’t been taken down, but it seemed like it was suspended for an undisclosed period.

According to Facebook, the most common reason why people won’t be able to post on their Facebook pages is that their pages are suspended. If Facebook has determined that they have broken their community guidelines or other rules one too many times, they will be locked out of some or all of the features of their pages. Sometimes this is temporary, and sometimes it’s permanent. Sometimes it’s just the simple removal of a few features, like the ability to run ads or the ability to send Messenger messages. Sometimes it’s a complete suspension.
