This claim is MISLEADING. Checks indicate that this is an old video incident that occurred in 2022 as a result of herdsmen attacks in the Enugu communities in which many people were slaughtered.

There’s no end in sight in the social media tribal war between the Igbos and Yorubas on X. This has gone to the extent that these bigots recirculate old and negative videos or news reports to malign each other’s tribes

An X user, Aina Dipo posted a video of people fleeing their communities and claimed it was a result of the current insecurity in Southeast.

Aina Dipo said, “Residents in the Southeast community are fleeing from the IPOB terrorist“

The post, which garnered over 15k views, also had comments from users who believed that this was true.

FACTWATCH observed that another X user, @AareLatoosa1, also made this claim via his X account.

He posted the same video and wrote, “Igbos are running away from South East because of killings by ipob led by criminals Nnamidi kanu and Simon ekpa..

“Their children are on social media making mouth claiming they developed America and UK.

The post generated over 187k views and more than 150 reposts by person believed this was a recent video.

Verification

This Fact Checker subjected the keyframes from the video to a Google image reverse search and found the video first appeared online on November 23, 2022.

According to Google Lens results, the video was shared on many X accounts and Facebook pages in 2022.

When this Fact Checker viewed the video posted by Standard Observers on X, it was discovered that the residents were fleeing from their homes as a result of continuous herdsmen attacks.

The incident happened in two Enugu communities in 2022.

According to a post by Standard Observers on X, “Indigenes of Mgbuji community in Ehamufu, Isi Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State desert homes following 4-day long killings and burning of houses by Fulani Herdsmen.

When this Fact Checker traced further, a report by PunchOnline also confirmed that this video of people running away from their communities was a result of killing herdsmen.

The report stated that suspected herdsmen invaded and killed many persons at Agu-Amede, Mgbuji, and Eboh communities, in Eha-Amufu, in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.
