One may think that the name “Agozi Commedy (archived link) on Facebook is among the skit-makers who earn a living from creating comical contents online.

However, an extensive investigation by FACTWATCH Nigeria has uncovered that this, by far, is not the case.

To attract more followers and generate more post engagements, Agozi Samuel, the owner of Agozi Commedy’s Facebook page, deliberately employs the strategies of disinformation, defamation, and fake giveaways.

Agozi Commedy is not a known name in mainstream comedy in Nigeria, however, the page is associated with a Facebook user, Agozi Samuel.   According to profile information, the page created on July 31, 2023, had over 500k followers already.

Agozi Samuel, the face behind Agozi Commedy

In many flyers seen by this investigator, Agozi Samuel claimed that Agozi Commedy was registered as a company known as Cash Flow Entertainment. However, simple searches indicated that the name Cash Flow Entertainment is not legally registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

See Screenshot CAC website

Agozi Commedy’s Facebook page became famous in early 2024 after defaming a popular Nigerian comedian, AY Makun (AY), Gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, and many others. We shall get to these in due course.

Activities on his Page are replete with:

  • •Spreading of misinformation/disinformation
  • •Posting of fake transfer receipts for false giveaways
  • •Defrauding people by asking for “urgent help”
  • False visits to prisons/orphanages
  • •Defaming Celebrities, notable personalities

A merchant of misinformation and disinformation

On Agozi Commedy’s Facebook page, falsehood is disseminated to the extent that it is able on some occasions, to sway factual narratives in the Nigerian public space. Even in recent times.

Agozi Samuel, whether consciously or through a complex web of motivations, actively participates in the creation, dissemination, and often the monetization of false and misleading information. He is, in a sense, a key player in a shadow economy of deception, where credibility is currency, and falsehoods are traded for influence, profit, or the advancement of a specific agenda.

His Facebook page publishes unrelated old and outdated videos or images that will generate traffic and engagements.

Agozi Samuel always posts old videos that are unrelated to recent happenings in Nigeria. He recycles videos that are outside the subject of discussion with captions that portray them to look true.

He was the person who spearheaded the claim (Archived) that the current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, collapsed in April 2025.

On 2nd April, the self-acclaimed comedian uploaded an unrelated video with a claim that Mr Wike collapsed in Abuja after battling an illness. This falsehood made the rounds for days until a video of the minister in a meeting with President Bola Tinubu confirmed it to be untrue.

On March 19, after the State of Emergency was declared in Rivers State, Agozi Commedy shared a clip of deposed Governor Sim Fubara speaking, and, as usual, captioned it that Fubara had refused to hand over to the new Sole Administrator, Ibas. Archived.

However, a check by FACTWATCH Nigeria debunked it. He was also the first person to claim that Fubara was arrested following the declaration of the state of emergency in Rivers State, which also turned out to be false. Archived.

A thorough check on Agozi Commedy’s Facebook page showed that 98% of videos and images shared by him are entirely misleading and false

Fake Giveaways

To entice people to believe that he lives in affluence and riches, Agozi Commedy’s Facebook page always posts transfer receipts of huge amounts of money, claiming that he’s the one who doled out these funds to help Nigerians in this time of hardship.

Agozi Samuel will ask his followers to do a task by subscribing to his YouTube channel and watching four videos there before they can qualify for the fake giveaways.

His posts read as follows:

“House rent paid for the first

“How much is your house rent?
Be sincere

“Just follow the instructions

1, Kindly subscribe to my YouTube channel
2, Watch the 4 videos I recently posted (My Brother’s Wife, Love Is Beautiful, The Wickedness of Love, and Romantical Love)

“Once you are done watching the 4 videos, kindly drop your account number on each of these 4 videos you watch.
That is the only way I can detect those who watched the video to the end.

“The main reason I said you should drop your account number on each of the videos you watch, is because that is the only way I can detect how many minutes each of you watched the videos.

“If you don’t watch the videos to the end I won’t credit you
“If you skip the video or fast forward the video so it can be finished fast, I won’t credit you.
So it won’t be as if you wasted your time and your data

“Technology won’t lie, so that is why I use the option that you should drop your account number on each of the videos you watch.

“So if you’re expecting me to pick your account and credit you when you didn’t follow the instructions then you must be joking.
Each of the videos is not more than 15 minute.
Congratulations to you all in advance this is my YouTube channel link click on it and it will take you to my YouTube channel and then you will be credited

On 11 April, he claimed to have donated (archived)two transformers to two Benue communities. However, a check on this showed it to be untrue.

A photo of Transformers he claimed to have donated to Benue communities

He also boasts of giving out tricycles and minibuses (archived) to single mothers if they perform the above task. He claims to have paid house rent for many persons by sharing transfer receipts he pulled from other Facebook pages.

Why these are unreal giveaways

A closer look by this investigator revealed that Agozi Samuel intentionally recycles the same transfer receipts to deceive people.

On this Facebook post here (archived) by him on 29th January 2025, he posted a receipt with the name Cyprian Chukwukeye Okeke (Access Bank)and amount #100,000.

The sample receipt:

However, it was discovered that this same receipt was reposted by Agozi Samuel as a fresh beneficiary of his fraudulent giveaways in March and April bearing the same name and amount
Check here and here.

In the comment section, people have also continued to lament that his giveaways are fake.

Defrauding people by asking for “urgent help”

As a social media influencer with over 500k followers, an average Nigerian will easily believe that Agozi Samuel is living in a rosy and comfortable world. In other words, one may think that he’s not far from riches and connections.

For him, at his very own high level as a social media celebrity, to ask for urgent help from his followers, it would be believed concretely that he’s truly in need.

Agozi Samuel through his Facebook page, will solicit funds from his followers for a very urgent need. He always gives reasons for exceeding his daily bank limit, mistakenly uninstalling his bank app, and being stranded with cheap and false promises that he will refund the person a higher amount.

Many followers who had sent funds to him upon his request never got a refund or further responses from him, as he wwouldblock these persons.

While seeking funds, some of his posts read like this, “Can someone help me send 10k to this account number 8135111065 Agozi Samuel? I need it urgently right now for something very crucial.
“I will send you 20k back this morning before 10am once the bank opens. I just passed my limit. When you send it, kindly send me the screenshot to my inbox, including your account number as well. Thanks.🙏”

On March 06, 2025, a Facebook user, Harmony Ifeanyi, tagged the official page of the Nigerian Police with complaints that Agozi Samuel defrauded her of ₦10,000.

The post by the Facebook user, Harmony reads, “Full evidence on Agozi commedy scams.
“I have full evidence to prove that this man parading online as a giveaway boss is a scammer

“Here’s what he does:

  • Agozi Comedy creates posts claiming to be in urgent need of financial assistance.
  • He promises to double the amount sent to him once his bank is operational.
  • Victims send money, but Agozi Commedy blocks them and deletes the post.
  • Comments and messages on the page are restricted, preventing victims from reporting the scam.

“Don’t send money to this man.

“A lot of people already scammed

“The security agencies should do the needful.

Some of the attached screenshots to the post showed the chats between him and a Facebook user, indicating that the sum of #10,000 was sent to Agozi Samuel. In the chats, he claimed to be stranded.

A blog has also raised alarm over these scams by Agozi.

False visits to prisons/Orphanages

In another plot by Agozi Samuel, he publishes (archived) photos of bags of rice and palliatives and claims he distributed them to widows, orphanage homes, and prisons.

Check posts relating to this here (archived) and here.(archived)

In late December 2024, he posted a flier on his Facebook page asking people to contribute money to visit many Nigerian prisons and orphanages

See the flier here:

However, checks by this investigator revealed that some of the names of the Nigerian prisons and orphanages listed by Agozi Samuel on that flier were unknown, as there were no further updates from Agozi on these particular visits.

Also, a closer look at some of the images of his acclaimed distribution of palliatives showed that these bags of rice had marks and inscriptions of the Nigerian flag. Meaning that the exercise was carried out by the Nigerian government, not him.

Defaming celebrities and notable persons in Nigeria

Another strategy to keep his Facebook page alive is the deliberate defamation of Nigerian celebrities and notable persons.

How he does it:

He fabricates awful and unrelated stories to draw the attention of Facebook users to ridicule a particular celebrity.

As an intentional act, Agozi Commedy defames and blackmails people through videos on Facebook. When these persons threaten or sue him, he backtracks, apologizes, and continues defaming other people afterward.

Despite his apologizing to comedian AY and gospel singer Mercy Chinwo for deliberately fabricating ugly stories about them, Agozi has continued with this tactic to garner followers by being notorious.

In January 2024, Agozi Samuel claimed that a popular Nigerian comedian, Ayo Makun (AY) engaged in an extra-marital affair with May, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie.

He claimed the alleged affair contributed to the couple’s marital crisis.

He further alleged that AY was not the biological father of his second daughter.

Reacting to this, AY petitioned the Delta State Police Command over “criminal defamation and cyberstalking” by one Facebook user identified as Agozi Samuel.

A copy of the petition

According to the petition, Agozi Samuel through his Facebook account, Agozi Commedy, had accused the comedian of having an extra-marital affair with May Edochie, the wife of actor Yul Edochie, and hence responsible for the marital crisis between the couple.

In the petition filed by his lawyers and dated January 24, 2024, AY was said to have been inundated by messages from friends concerning the video which came from Agozi.

The petition partly read, “On Monday, 22 January 2024, our client was inundated with a barrage of messages from concerned friends, family, and business partners regarding the circulation of a four minutes, thirty-two seconds (4:32) video (Annexure 2) which purportedly emanated from the Facebook page of one Mr. Agozi Samuel with the user name, Agozi Commedy (“the page/account”) who is unknown to our client at all material times before the occurrence of this event.

“In the four minutes, thirty-two seconds video titled “AY comedian where is your wife,” which was posted on Saturday, 20 January 2024, on the page with a following of over 23,000 followers as can be seen in Annexure 1 to this letter.

The suspect, in a mischievous attempt to generate traffic and views for his page and to gain cheap popularity, knowingly and intentionally made various statements that are not only false and baseless but also capable of causing annoyance, insult, enmity, hatred, public outrage and needless anxiety to our client and his family and exposing our client to hatred and public ridicule.

“The said publication alleges that our client is involved in an extra-marital affair with one, May Edochie, the wife of Yul Edochie, and that our client was responsible for the marital crisis between May and her husband.

Knowing what he has done, in his usually unremorseful and manipulative apology, Agozi Samuel said, “AY, I’m sorry. AY, please forgive me for the video I just did. I uploaded all those videos to my page. I wanted to tell the general public that those videos I did were fake. AY is the biological father of his second daughter. AY has nothing to do with me. I did the video to gain popularity.

“Life in Sierra Leone is hard, and to feed is a problem. There is no work here. That’s why I decided to join content creation. That’s why I came back to Nigeria last month, and I made some videos. Immediately after returning to Sierra Leone, I started posting the content, but I don’t have views and likes. I needed to trend and make money to not return to Nigeria empty-handed. So I decided to do clout and to see that Nigerians are bad. You’ll post good content they will not like it. It’s an evil one they will like and comment on.”

Watch the video of his apology to AY here

In April 2024, Agozi Commedy apologized to the gospel singers Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo.

Agozi had claimed that Blessed Uzochikwa, Chinwo’s husband, should carry out a DNA test to determine the paternity of their child.

He alleged that their son bears a striking resemblance to Nathaniel Bassey and implied that the latter is the father.

“If you don’t do DNA for the child, in 18 years, I don’t want to hear justice for yourself,” he said, addressing Uzochikwa.

“You have been training another man’s child.”

Reacting to the allegations, Bassey petitioned the police.

He asked law enforcement to arrest Agozi and other suspects in the interest of justice.

He also filed a complaint to the Magistrate Court in Abuja, accusing Agozi and four other social media users of defamation.

The suspects were summoned and were expected to appear before the court on 23 April 2024.

Following the development, Agozi wrote a series of Facebook posts and apologized to Bassey and Chinwo.

He also shared video of himself crying, claiming he has been depressed since being served the court papers.

He pleaded with the singers to “temper justice with mercy”.

“I am very sorry Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo. You are like a father and a mother to me,” he said.

“You guys are ministers of the gospel.

“I was carried away by bloggers. I’m not justifying my actions. Please give me a second chance. This won’t repeat itself.

“Please temper justice with mercy and I will join you and serve your God.

“I have repented and followed Jesus. Please be my spiritual guidance so I won’t miss the track again.

Despite these, Agozi Samuel had gone on to defame other people till this moment without a single piece of evidence.

See his posts on this here:

Agozi is hiding his location:

There’s no exact location one can trace Agozi Commedy to for his criminal activities in the last 21 months.

After he defamed the comedian AY, a copy of the petition was addressed to the Delta State Police Command. However, during the apology, Agozi Samuel said that he was based in Sierra Leone.

Checks on one of the images he posted on his Facebook page earlier this year indicated that the background he took the photo shows portraits of the Nigerian president, Bola Tinubu, and Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Available information on his Facebook page disclosed that Rivers State is his location. This investigator traced and found his mobile number, 08135111065, with which he opened his Palmpay account.

Tracking Agozi Samuel

A security expert, Emmanuel Johnson (not real name), tracked Agozi Commedy’s location using his phone number, 08135111065 and discovered that the line wasn’t linked to the National Identification Number system (NIN). This means that as a pre-registered phone number, it doesn’t contain the details of the user.

“I think the service providers are to be blamed on this because we can’t access his details or location because there is no NIN linked to it”, the security expert told FACTWATCH Nigeria.

When this investigator called this phone number 08135111065, an unknown person picked up but refused to utter a word.

Why Agozi is doing this:

In a video in 2024, Agozi Samuel said defaming people and spreading disinformation are his easiest chances of generating Facebook followers and engagement. He claimed ordinary skits and funny comedies do not attract views on Facebook.

His Crimes:

With the shady and criminal activities perpetrated by Agozi Samuel on his Facebook page, he has controverted the Nigerian Cybercrime Act 2024 as amended.

Citing the act, section 14(2) states that a person who, with intent to defraud, sends an electronic message materially misrepresents any fact or set of facts upon which reliance the recipient or another person is caused to suffer any damage or loss, commits an offense and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than 5 years and to a fine of not less than N10,000,000.00 or both.

(3) A person who with intent to defraud, by electronic messages, instructions, superscribes any electronic message or instruction, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of not more than 3 years or to a fine of not more than 45,000,000.00 or both.

On defamation:

Section 24 (1a) of this act, states that if it is grossly offensive, pornographic, or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character or causes any such message or matter to be so sent; or

(b) he knows to be false, for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, obstruction, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, ill will, or needless anxiety to another or causes such a message to be sent.

Last line:

It is the opinion of many Nigerians that relevant law enforcement agencies in the country should swiftly move to restrain and bring Agozie Samuel to book and protect other unsuspecting citizens from falling prey to his falsehood and fraud.

The social media platforms where he plies his obnoxious trade of deception should also expedite action to impose serious sanctions on him or outrightly ban his accounts, to save innocent social media users of his vile antics.
