An X user, @AsaKyGRN, posted a video and claimed that Ghanaian youths protested recently against Igbo dominance after the Igbos installed an Igbo king in Ghana.
Verdict

The claim is MISLEADING. Investigation by FACTWATCH Nigeria indicated that video attached to the claim was a different protest of supporters of the Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP)who thronged the headquarters of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in Accra following reports that the embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, had been transferred there in May.

The established and influential traditional ruler of the Igbo community in Ghana is His Royal Majesty Eze (Dr.) Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, Eze Ohazurume 1, Eze Ndi Igbo Ghana. He has been a significant figure in promoting Igbo culture and welfare in the diaspora for many years.

Regarding this, an X user, @AsaKyGRN, has posted a video and claimed that Ghanaian youths protested recently against Igbo dominance after the Igbos installed an Igbo king in Ghana.
The post has generated 957k views with 7k likes and over 700 reposts on the X platform as of 8th July 2025.
The claim has spread to YouTube channels and online blog, so FACTWATCH Nigeria decides to run a check on the claim.
Verification
FACTWATCH Nigeria subjected keyframes from the video to a Google Image Reverse Search and discovered that the video attached to the claim was a different protest of supporters of the Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP)who thronged the headquarters of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in Accra following reports that the embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, had been transferred there in May.
The two videos shared by NSMghana via TikTok on May 30 confirmed that it was a different protest.
An online newspaper based in Ghana reported that tensions flared as dozens of loyalists chanted slogans, demanded his immediate release, and clashed verbally with security personnel, creating a chaotic scene at the entrance of the anti-graft agency.
According to credible sources, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako, who had earlier reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with ongoing investigations, was taken into custody by EOCO officers upon exiting the CID premises on Tuesday, May 27.
