An online newspaper, People’s Gazette has in it’s caption, claimed that bandits killed 20 security agents in Katsina State.

This caption is misleading the public. Simple finding by thefactwatch revealed that in the report, a statement by the police command in Katsina, stated that only four policemen and two local guards were killed in that attack.

This caption by People’s Gazette raised lots of questions as why the Nigerian military will always keep quiet when security agents are being slaughtered in the North but would want to retaliate fiercely when the similar incidents occur in the Southeast.

To confirm further, a report by Channels TV, stated that Four Police Officers, 22 Others were Killed in Katsina Communities in a fresh bandits attack on Gidan Tofa and Dan Nakwabo villages in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a statement by police command in Katsina State, “During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the armed bandits attacked Gidan Boka village, killing fifteen (15) people and injuring two (2) others.
“They also ambushed our patrol team and killed four (4) police officers (three (3) inspectors and one (1) corporal) and two (2) members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).
“Also, the bandits, while escaping through Dan Nakwabo village, Kankara LGA, shot and killed five (5) persons. Further development will be communicated as the investigation proceeds”, the statement added.
Also the vanguard confirmed that only six security personnel were killed.
