No doubts, an ex-Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane, has transformed his childhood village of Bambali – a village in the south of Senegal – with a number of incredible gestures since the start of his football career.
The 33-year-old signed for the Premier League club Liverpool in 2016, scoring 90 goals before joining a Saudi Arabian Club, Al-Nassr, in 2023.
Mané was born to Guinean parents in Bambali, Sédhiou, Senegal. He grew up in a religious household. He currently plays for the Senegal national team.

Over the years, he has donated significant sums of money to help improve the conditions of the remote village. He built a hospital, stadium, and schools.
In 2022, an X account @AfricaFactsZone posted a thread detailing the generosity of the Liverpool forward.
Fast forward to August 2025, Musa Dalhat, a member of the Fabrizio Romano football news group on Facebook, has shared a photo depicting a newly built primary school in a Senegal community by an ex-Liverpool star, Sadio Mane.
The Facebook user posted the image on the group alongside a caption that reads, “🎈Check out Sadio Mane’s Primary School down in Bambali. 🇸🇳
The post generated more than 4k reactions and many comments.
Verification
First, FACTWATCH Nigeria subjected the image to an AI detection device, Illuminarty, and the results showed that this was 31% AI-generated.

Another tool, Sightengine, detected that it was 97% AI-generated.
In recent times, the social media space has been flooded with AI-generated content by users to generate traffic. By doing this, they continue to spread misinformation intentionally or unintentionally.
In 2019, it was reported that Mane donated £200,000 to fund the building of a secondary school in his home village of Bambaly, Senegal.
However, no image of the school was attached to the publication.
In a speech read by his uncle Sana Toure at the presentation of his gift, Mane urged locals: “Education is very important. This is what will enable you to have a good career.”
In 2024, DailyMail revealed that the former Liverpool forward has ploughed an estimated £1million into funding new facilities such as schools and hospitals in Bambali in recent years.
